Domestic calls

Domestic rates are per minute for outgoing calls.
All incoming calls are free, regardless of where they originate.
Your Ireland SIM card allows you to choose between 2 calling plans. The default plan is the 'Standard'.

Early bird plan

If you use your phone mostly during the day, this is the plan for you. All weekend calls are 0.12 EUR per minute and all weekend texts are 0.11 EUR.

Activating your service

Your Ireland mobile number is printed on the small booklet that is attched to your SIM card and begins 086.

To activate your service:

  1. Travel to Ireland.
  2. Be sure that the battery is adequately charged.
  3. Insert the SIM card into your GSM phone*.
  4. Turn your phone on.
  5. Enter the PIN code when prompted^
  6. Call Customer Support at 1747 to select your pricing plan (Early Bird or Night Owl)
  7. Start calling.

* You will need to snap out the thumbnail sized SIM card along the perforated edge of its holder and then insert the SIM card into your international mobile phone with the gold contacts of the SIM card facing the metal contacts of your mobile phone.

^Your mobile phone will prompt you for a 4 digit PIN code, which can be found on the card affixed to your prepaid SIM card in your Ireland SIM packaging. This is a security feature of your Ireland SIM card. The PUK is only required to unblock your phone if you enter a PIN code incorrectly 3 times. Follow your mobile phone manual instructions to correctly use the PUK to unblock your cellular phone if this occurs.

Making and receiving calls

How to make a call

To make an international call from your Ireland mobile phone dial 00 (or +), followed by the country code (1 for the US), area code and phone number.

How family and friends call you

Family and friends need to dial the international prefix, the country code 353 and your mobile phone number, omitting the first 0 (zero).
For example, when calling from the United States, callers need to dial 011 353 and then your mobile phone number.

Recharging your account

Your SIM card will include an initial airtime credit of 2 EUR.

To add credit to your Ireland SIM card, you will need to purchase recharge vouchers, also called Top Up cards. You will find these vouchers at most convenience stores, O2 dealers, tabac shops and petrol stations in Ireland. They may be purchased in 5 denominations: 10 EUR, 15 EUR, 20 EUR, 25 EUR and 30 EUR

Do not purchase another Ireland SIM card when your credit is depleted! You only need a recharge voucher!

Contacting Customer Service

Customer service for your Ireland SIM card is available 24/7 by dialing 1747 from your Ireland cell phone or by calling 185061747 from landline phone.

Service life

If you recharge your account within 12 months, then the remaining balance will carry forward along with the amount of the most recent recharge.

If you do not recharge your account within 12 months, your SIM card and phone number will be recycled and any remaining credit will be forfeit. To get connected again you will be required to purchase another SIM card.
